View from Cleydael Back Porch

View from Cleydael”s back porch. Booth and Herold would have approached the house from this way as it was the front of the house in 1865.

    Not for sure…..
The above view is slightly west of 180 degrees due south, possibly ~ 195 degrees (CWN).
They may have first seen someone in the north side of the yard or field (today’s false idea of
front) and waited for Dr. Stuart at his office door (NE corner of house). The front of the house was
designed to look south into the woods, not towards the open north field, because they were ashamed to be seen sitting on the porch watching the slaves work in the field (north field borders HWY 206).
